Home care in Edmonton's inner city and suburbs
Care at home for your mom, your dad or your partner, from a locally owned Alberta agency. Use home care hours approved under Client Directed Home Care Invoicing (CDHCI), pay privately, or combine the two.
Phones answered 24/7. A coordinator calls back within the hour, day or night.
Local coverage in Edmonton
We provide home care across Edmonton, in the inner city and the suburbs. Whether your mom lives on her own or your dad has moved in with you, our caregivers come to the home.
#1 Right Care is locally owned and based in Alberta. Your coordinator works out the visit schedule with you, confirms every visit, and gets to know you, your caregiver and your family. On CDHCI, your case manager approves the care plan and the hours, and we schedule your care within them.
Live just outside the city, or not sure your address is in our area? Call our Edmonton line at 780.801.1588, or our main line at 587.443.1888, any time. We may still be able to help.
Care we provide in Edmonton
Tap a service to see what's included. On CDHCI, care follows the plan your case manager approved, and you need to be home for the visit.
Personal care
Help with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and getting around the home, given with patience and dignity.
Medication reminders
Friendly prompts and reminders so your daily medication routine stays on track. This is a reminder service, not nursing care.
Dementia and memory care
Calm, familiar routines and a patient caregiver who gently redirects and reassures, for someone living with dementia or memory loss.
Companion care
Friendly visits, light housekeeping, meal prep, errands and outings. On CDHCI, homemaking counts only if it's in your plan and goes along with personal care or respite, never on its own. Anything outside your plan can be arranged as private care, with a written quote first.
Respite and overnight care
A few hours, a weekend or overnight, including awake-overnight and full 24/7 care, so family caregivers can rest.
Long-term care
Ongoing care in your own home for chronic conditions and extended needs. This is home care, not a care facility.
How to start care in Edmonton
It starts with a call to us, or the request form. Then follow step 2, step 3 or both, depending on how you'll pay for care.
Call us, any time
Call 587.443.1888. A person answers 24/7. Tell us who the care is for and what's going on. Prefer to write? Use the request form, and a coordinator calls you back within the hour, day or night.
If you're on CDHCI, or want to ask for it
CDHCI lets you choose who delivers the home care hours your case manager approves. Already approved? Call us first and share your approval letter, then tell your case manager you've chosen #1 Right Care. We're on the Alberta Blue Cross provider map as “# 1 Right Care”. Not on CDHCI yet? Call us first and we'll explain what to ask. Then you or your family call your case manager, or if you don't have one, the Edmonton home care intake line at 780-496-1300. You can refer yourself; no doctor's referral is needed. Your case manager decides your hours and whether CDHCI suits you. It's for people living in their own home, generally not a lodge, assisted or supportive living, or a group home. Read how CDHCI works.
If you're paying privately, or adding hours
We talk through the care you need and the schedule that suits your family, then give you a written quote before any care starts. On CDHCI and want more than your approved hours? We quote the extra private hours the same way. There's no extra charge for evenings, weekends or holidays.
We match your caregiver
We match by personality, language, schedule and need. If the match isn't right, tell us and we'll re-match at no extra cost.
Paying for care
On CDHCI: we invoice Alberta Blue Cross directly for the approved hours we deliver. You aren't invoiced for those hours, and we give you a copy of every claim statement. We take care of the billing.
Private pay: you don't need CDHCI to get care from us. You get a written quote before any care starts, and we invoice you for those hours. There's no extra charge for evenings, weekends or holidays.
Both together: you can combine the two. Want more care than your approved hours? We quote the extra private hours in writing before they start.
Every visit is at least 2 hours, whether it's CDHCI or private care. If your approved visits are shorter, we work out the schedule with you and put any cost in writing before care starts. For more on costs, visits and scheduling, read our guide to home care costs.
Why Edmonton families choose us
- A person answers, day or night. Call any time and a person answers. Use the request form and a coordinator calls you back within the hour, day or night.
- Locally owned, Alberta-based. #1 Right Care is locally owned and based here in Alberta, not run from a head office in another province.
- Caregivers who are checked and matched. Every caregiver is interviewed in person, reference-checked, criminal-record-checked and trained before joining. Across our four areas, our caregivers speak many languages, including Tagalog, Punjabi, Hindi, Spanish, Arabic, French and more. Tell us what your family speaks when you call, and we'll look for a caregiver who speaks it.
- A coordinator who knows your family. Your coordinator knows you, your caregiver and your family, and confirms every visit. Every morning the upcoming schedule is checked, so a problem like a visit with no caregiver assigned gets fixed before the visit, not after.
- A backup who works from the same plan. Your care plan and preferences are kept on file, so if your regular caregiver is away, a backup caregiver works from the same plan instead of starting from scratch.
